Kyle debuted on the track at age 18 winning his first major race, the 1979 ARCA 200 in Daytona. Kyle is currently working as a broadcaster for TNT calling their portion of the NASCAR schedule and is involved on the show "NASCAR Smarts" on Speed. Kyle is a husband to Pattie and father to Adam, Austin and Montgomery Lee. Kyle is also very passionate about several charities including his Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. Since 1995 they've logged close to 8 million miles and raised 12 million dollars for various children's charity. The one hat you always associate with Kyle is the black 45. It's the hat that represents the car driven by his late son Adam, killed in a Busch Series practice in 2000. Kyle and his wife Pattie opened the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, NC in 2004 to carry on Adam's vision of helping kids. VJGC is open year round for kids who are terminally ill or chronically ill, all at no cost to the campers or their families. |
