The Marriage and Family Network is designed for anyone in AACC interested in marriage and family therapy, education, ministry, mentoring, and policy.
Marriage and family issues are so central in society today, and have always held a special place in the ministry of the Church. Yet marriage is under significant assault by forces that tear at its integrity–rampant divorce, pervasive cohabitation, and now, the threat of gay marriage, that if accepted, would yield other perverse “marriage” forms. And the pressure to accept “alternative family forms” that remove the loving influence of a committed father and mother in a child’s life is also rising. More specifically, Bill Doherty has recently documented the assault on marriage by ‘marriage therapists’ who either find divorce as an accepted solution to marital problems or do therapy from an individual orientation, with individual rights and goals ascendant over those of marriage.
Fortunately, in response to these multiple threats and assaults, an emerging ‘marriage movement’ is rising in America–one that MFN supports and will be in the front line of development. Whether you are a Marriage and Family Therapist or other clinical professional, a pastor with a heart for marriage and family ministry, or a lay helper doing marital mentoring and counseling in your church, MFN will deliver the knowledge, insights, and skills you need to better practice and minister to those in your care. CHARTER MEMBERSHIP
All interested AACC members are encouraged to join this new in-house organization for just $28 for the charter year of 2004-2005 ($39 thereafter).
