Summary
According to the most recent statistics, there are 67,367 drug overdose deaths in the United States per year, and 48.6% of persons using at least one prescription drug in the past 30 days. Nearly everyone has a family member or knows somebody who struggles with addiction. In this workshop, mental health professionals will learn the latest research, evidence-based practices, treatment plans, and science of addiction principles to guide clients towards recovery management and improvement of their long-term recovery.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
• Describe techniques for addiction counselors and licensed mental health professionals to properly counsel clients facing addiction and push toward the road to sobriety
• Develop a treatment plan for long-term recovery, focusing on the present and rediscovering their lives instead of concentrating on mistakes made in the past
• Outline the developments of addiction medicine
