Description

Nature vs. Nurture, Disease vs. Sin, Victim of my Past vs. Free Will, Condemnation vs.
Forgiveness, Diseased Brain Circuitry vs. Idols of the Heart, Chemical Imbalance vs. Lusts of the
Flesh, Fate/Luck vs. Divine Power. Theologians, philosophers, scientists, institutions, and now
pastors, therapists, doctors, and psychiatrists argued for millennia about the interaction
between science and the spiritual. Contrary to the popular and longstanding opinion that they
irritate, antagonize or even contradict each other, in actuality, they profoundly validate each

other. I am excited to share with you how the psychiatric realm is where this amazing
phenomenon is most clearly revealed. Science in the form of CBT, DBT, Mindfulness,
Psychodynamic Therapy, EFT, Motivational Interviewing, Psychiatric Medications,
Neurofeedback, and Neuromodualtion have helped alleviate human suffering. But even with all
this science, addictions are the #1 killer in the U.S. and suicide is #2. This is where faith must
enter the practical equation. Engaging cutting-edge science, but through biblical lenses, is
essential to understand the human mind, how we get disordered, and implement the cure.
Unfortunately, even though the Bible is pretty clear about salvation, abundant living, renewing
the mind, fruit of the spirit, and joy in all things, we all still struggle applying the Bible in life?۪s
daily circumstances and decisions. We know Jesus?۪ death, teachings, role modeling, and other
biblical principles are essential for lasting transformation, but how do we operationalize these
divine assets for psychospiritual healing? This workshop uses psychiatric fundamentals to break
down big Bible principles into more usable sized chunks to teach a practical model integrating
Bible and science for powerful treatment outcomes that can be used at any level of care. This
model allows us to truly take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ for godly
decision-making and abundant living. RISE UP!
