Description

The Enneagram is an ancient personality tool rooted deeply in spirituality. Unlike most
personality assessments, which lean toward static descriptions, the Enneagram differentiates
itself by revealing a Christ-oriented path for growth. Knowledge of the Enneagram from a
Gospel-centered perspective serves as an effective means for helping couples finally
understand why they do what they do, break unhelpful patterns, and truly enjoy each other
and their marriages. ???Always be humble and gentle, be patient with each other, making
allowance for each other?۪s faults because of your love?۝ (Ephesians 4:2). Couples often enter
into marriage with the assumption that they ???know?۝ themselves and their spouse. The reality is
that when two, imperfect humans with varying views of the world enter into a relationship
(sometimes bringing with them deep emotional wounds), conflicts will occur. The Enneagram
from a biblical and relational perspective offers an opportunity for humble self-evaluation and a
deeper glimpse into others?۪ motivations. It can be an effective tool for increasing awareness,
compassion, intimacy, empathy, understanding, and eliminate the damage that arises from
relational ???assumicide.?۝ Whether a couple has been married for 50 years, five weeks or
engaged to be married, the Enneagram through the lens of the Gospel forever changes the way
they understand themselves, their spouses, and the work of Christ in their lives through
sanctification. This workshop will provide an overview of the Enneagram, as well as a glimpse
into how it offers clarity to couples so they can break free from self-condemnation, fear, and

shame by knowing and experiencing the unconditional love, forgiveness, and freedom they
have in Christ. Enneagram speaker and coach, Beth McCord, will offer her years of experience
and expertise alongside licensed counselors, Leah Lucas and Lindsay Taylor, who will share how
the Enneagram has impacted their work with couples in a clinical setting.
