Summary
Unless they have such a superficial relationship that they never get close enough to experience friction, all marriages have communication challenges which create conflict. For many couples this results in pain, alienation, and distance. Based upon the presenters’ biblically and psychologically integrated adaptation of Emotionally Focused Therapy and Object Relations Theory, this workshop introduces unique and innovative methods of systematically assisting couples communicate more effectively and understand one another deeply. It offers a family friendly formula for fighting fair to facilitate conflict resolution and is designed to be clinically applicable for most marriage system issues, dynamics, differences, and conflictual situations.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
• Describe and learn to clinically apply an innovative six-stage process model for enhancing couples’ overall level of intimacy and communication dynamics in order to successfully resolve conflict
• Summarize and clinically utilize 10 guidelines that each member of the couple dyad can implement to promote emotional safety in his/her communication and conflict resolution processes
• Identify and incorporate 12 innovative and powerful principles of transforming conflict into connection and closeness
