Summary
Based on experience training more than 30,000 peer and professional counselors to serve thousands of Chinese and their families in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Europe, Africa, and North America, this presenter will explore ways to overcome mental health stigma and share the key elements of a 12-session, skill-based program (which integrates biblical principles and active ingredients of evidence-based therapy approaches) that enhances emotional intelligence, affect-regulation, personal growth, and relationship strength. The practical tips to be shared are applicable to people from all ethnic backgrounds.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
• Identify ways to overcome cultural barriers to those seeking help and motivate multicultural populations for personal growth and lifelong learning
• Demonstrate strategies for psychologists and licensed mental health professionals to help multicultural clients develop emotional intelligence, conflict management, and relationship enhancement skills
• List the key elements of a skill-based program (which integrates biblical principles and active ingredients of evidence-based therapy approaches) that have enhanced emotional self-regulation and relationship healing among thousands of Asians and their families in 14 countries
