Summary
According to statistics, 25% of women will be impacted by sexual assault/trauma before the age of 18. In current history, the modes of addressing trauma and assault have been purely from a reactive model of care. When a person is sexually assaulted, therapy and/or interventions will be offered if the case of abuse/assault is reported. Although many times sexual trauma goes unreported, it is estimated that approximately 50% of cases are never reported, thus increasing the statistic of sexual trauma to one in two women impacted. The presenters will demonstrate using the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) questionnaire and its use for clinical treatment planning.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
• Utilize the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) questionnaire as a tool to evaluate the need for therapies for past negative experiences and trauma, including, but not limited to, sexual assault
• Identify how the ACEs questionnaire can be used as a tool to employ preventative therapies or interventions from a licensed mental health professional to be reactive to those at risk for sexual assault and/or trauma(s)
• Develop treatment plans that take ACEs into consideration
