Empowering Trauma Survivors: Soul Care that Goes Beyond Self-care

Tuesday, October 26, 2021

6:00 – 8:00 PM ET

Webinar Presenter

Alison Cook, M.A., Ph.D., is a counselor, speaker, and co-author of Boundaries for Your Soul. For more than 15 years, Alison has helped women, ministry leaders, couples, and families learn how to heal painful emotions, develop confidence from the inside out, forge healthy relationships, and fully live out their God-given potential.

Christian trauma survivors often receive conflicting messages about how to heal. The Church tells them one thing, while their licensed mental health professionals tell them another. There is a need like never before to help Christian clients both: a) heal from trauma, and b) integrate trauma-informed perspectives with their Christian faith. This Webinar addresses the following critical questions: How do we help our clients heal holistically—mind, body, and soul? How do we equip clients to navigate their faith communities as they heal? And, what is the licensed mental health professional’s role in educating Christian clients about the impact of trauma on faith? In this presentation, Dr. Cook will discuss how licensed mental health professionals have a unique opportunity to help move their Christian clients beyond self-care and into more holistic healing with faith as a component.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Identify a biblical understanding of the self/soul and how trauma impacts the Christian client’s perspective on self/soul

  1. Identify significant ways to empower Christian trauma survivors to navigate faith communities as they heal
