Summary
Reproductive trauma encompasses experiences that disrupt the hoped for pathway to pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting, including miscarriage, infertility, premature birth, and perinatal challenges of postpartum depression/anxiety. With an estimated one in four women experiencing a miscarriage and one in six couples facing infertility, the impact is widespread yet often overlooked by mental health providers and medical providers. Clients frequently develop PTSD like symptoms, depression, anxiety, relational distress, traumatic grief, and isolation. These experiences carry unique complexities with the need for specialized training. In this webinar, psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, and ministry leaders to examine the common psychological, relational, and emotional symptoms reported by individuals/couples who have experienced reproductive trauma. Attendees will examine the evidence-based approaches and clinical targets for clients. Lastly, attendees will discuss the integration of religion and spirituality for a hope-focused approach for willing Christian clients. The goal is to equip providers to offer meaningful support so individuals and couples find healing through compassionate, trauma-informed care.
