Discover the difference you can make as a Therapist at Shepherd’s Hill Academy! Our team works with teens from ages 12-17 by offering support, mentorship, structure, and encouragement during their time in our program.
As a Therapeutic Counselor, you will be the case manager of multiple residents and will facilitate individual therapy sessions on a weekly basis. You will also facilitate family therapy sessions with your assigned clients and their parents to encourage strong, positive familial relationships and support systems. You may also be tasked with leading group therapy sessions, including Equine Relationship Therapy sessions for both our Boys and Girls Residential programs, conducted alongside our Equine Specialist. Our therapists do not have to have prior experience with horses, but rather must be able to conduct process groups with the clients who are participating in the sessions. This position reports directly to the Lead Therapist and is a member of the Therapeutic Department’s treatment team.
Responsibilities include:• Develop intake and residential onboarding recommendations• Assist the Intake Team with the enrollment process• Facilitate weekly one-hour individual therapeutic sessions• Facilitate family sessions according to SHA’s session schedule• Facilitate one-hour group sessions twice per week• Facilitate one-hour group Equine Therapy sessions twice per week
Qualifications:• Masters Degree in counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Social Work (required)• Licensed or in-progress (Associate or Full Professional Licensure)
