Description
Anger is a normal emotion that may serve a functional purpose. However, it may escalate to negative behavior. It may have a serious, negative impact on the emotional, social, relational, spiritual, physical, and medical function of an individual and the individual?۪s relationships. Rage is violent, uncontrolled anger that may lead to dire consequences. In psychiatric diagnosis, anger is not a diagnosis, but a symptom noted in many conditions. Emotional Intelligence is a multi-dimensional construct that involves the perception of emotions and regulation of emotions, among other strengths. Counselors face the challenge of assisting individuals, couples, groups, and organizations in the development of skills, including regulation of emotions. Following an introduction that incorporates biblical foundations, John Kuhnley provides a psychiatric and neurological perspective on anger and rage, while Anita Knight Kuhnley offers strategies for harnessing the power of Emotional Intelligence in counseling, and particularly in emotional regulation.
