Description
Join us for an in-depth look at transgender experiences and emerging gender identities. We will learn about diagnostic criteria for gender dysphoria and current trends in care, as well as controversies in work with children and teens. We will introduce attendees to the possibility of a ???looping effect? in the recent rise in atypical gender identity presentations at specialty clinics and provide resources for Christian engagement, critique, and clinical practice.
Presented by: Mark Yarhouse, Psy.D. & Julia Sadusky, M.A.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Evaluate differences between traditional gender dysphoria presentations and current trends in presentation at gender specialty clinics, as well as analyze a “looping effect” as a theory for the increase in emerging gender identities
- Distinguish trends in care for minors and related professional controversies
- Synthesize different explanatory frameworks for understanding gender identity into an integrated model of care
