Description

After a disaster is over, a scene of great destruction is revealed. One often overlooked result of
disasters is the vulnerability to marriages and families. In the disaster aftermath, the focus is on
physical recovery. Disaster research is clear that marriages and families suffer after disaster
events. Divorce, abuse, substance usage, domestic violence, and health problems are just some
of the issues that happen after man-made and natural events. Attendees in this workshop will
learn about how to help children, adolescents, and adults in family systems after the storm.
Oftentimes, great attachment injuries occur and repairs are difficult to make. Attendees will
discover the importance of helping marriages and families after disasters, as well as practical
ways to help heal attachment injuries.
