Description

Worry and anxiety prevent people from enjoying their lives and fully expressing who they were
designed to be. The challenge for many is knowing how not to worry. In the midst of the
anxious experience, there is often frustration and confusion in how to stop the worrisome
thoughts and defuse the overwhelming feelings. In this workshop, Dr. Symington presents a
user-friendly application of mindfulness called the Two-Screen Method, which shows people
what to do inside their head???the specific mental and emotional steps???to decrease the power
and presence of anxious thoughts and feelings. With this novel approach, featured in his new
book Freedom from Anxious Thoughts & Feelings: A Two-Step Mindfulness Approach for
Moving Beyond Fear & Worry, the evidenced-based strategies of psychology are applied by
relating to the mental image of two screens as directed. An important aspect of the Two-Screen
Method, along with defusing painful and problematic internal experiences, is using the
presence of worries and anxious feelings as a catalyst to live out faith-based values and express
the best parts of self.
