Summary
Spirituality has become a recognized area of importance in counseling; however, the reasons for addressing it and the ways to engage biblical spirituality are not always clear. This workshop will cover the necessity in Christian counseling to develop a biblical foundation for the spiritual dimension in counseling, along with evidence supporting the value and benefits of spirituality. Discussion will focus on building client spirituality within the context of Christian counseling and how counselors can incorporate this dimension from a biblical perspective.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
• Identify the importance and necessity of addressing spirituality in coaching and pastoral counseling
• Develop in clients an understanding of the process outlined in Scripture for building personal spirituality
• Outline practices that have demonstrated value for assisting clients with building their spirituality in a coaching or pastoral counseling practice
