Summary
Each year, thousands of people seek help from mental health professionals for their persistent—and often debilitating—anxiety. According to the American Psychological Association, nearly 25% of U.S. adults experienced an anxiety disorder in the past year, and more than one-third of U.S. adults suffer from an anxiety disorder at some time in their lives. Mental health professionals know that unaddressed anxiety frequently leads to other difficulties, including depression, addiction, eating disorders, and suicidal ideation. Highlighting the most up-to-date scientific research, proven evidence-based treatment strategies, and emerging approaches, this plenary will deepen participants’ understanding of anxiety and equip them with the most current, evidence-based therapeutic practices to utilize with clients.
