Summary
Mental health in America is a concern; global mental health is a crisis! Having a passion for serving internationally is part of the equation; finding a context in which to serve is another story. This workshop will explore possibilities and options for international service based on our interviews with numerous people who have successfully accomplished this goal. Challenges and benefits will be identified along with resources. We will share the responses to a set of questions from several leaders in the Christian global mental health arena and give multiple resources.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
• Compare the various pathways that others have journeyed in fulfilling their desire to engage in international work
• Identify specific strategies and resources for licensed mental health professionals to aid in responding to a wide variety of global mental health needs
• Demonstrate a beginning way for mental health professionals to specialize in positions of service for global mental health
