Remote or In-Person Faculty Opening at Charleston Southern University/Clinical Counseling Dept
Charleston Southern University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Counseling, starting August 1st, 2022. Applicants will be considered for remote or in-person faculty. Remote faculty will have the same job requirements in a virtual format, along with synchronous, virtual classes.
Ideal candidates have a passion for teaching future counselors and can relate their experience within the clinical field to students. Applicant would be part of the core clinical faculty per CACREP accreditation requirements, and must have a completed doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision (we cannot currently hire those who are ABD). Charleston Southern seeks candidates who are professing Christians, committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning. Rank is commensurate with experience. CSU intends to pursue CACREP accreditation for Master of Science for Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Responsibilities: Teach master’s level courses for the counseling program. Engaging curriculum development, including student practicum and internship. Supervise counseling student-interns, including site visits. Student advisement and recruitment. Work cooperatively with clinical mental health agencies. Interest and participation in professional counseling. Participate in appropriate program, school, and university activities such as program information sessions, admissions processes, and workshops. Assist in occasional school and university recruitment activities. Willing to teach face-to-face and online courses as needed.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program. Licensure-eligible in the state of South Carolina (remote faculty must pursue licensure in his or her state). Identify with the counseling profession through membership in professional organizations (i.e., ACA and/or its divisions). Experience in teaching and clinical supervision of counselors-in-training. Evidence of scholarly activities related to clinical counseling and counseling training. Familiar with utilizing technology, distance learning, and a working knowledge of and/or experience with the CACREP standards. Qualified to teach core counseling courses.
