Summary:
With the constant hustle and bustle of everyday life, there’s no question that stress can become a very real threat against today’s generations. When overwhelmed by persistent demands, losses, or perceived threats, stress can not only trigger physiological changes that can pose serious health threats, especially if combined with maladaptive ways of coping, but it can also lead to psychological challenges such as decreased performance, unpleasant feelings, anxiety, burnout and/or compassion fatigue. Moreover, a fascinating and still-developing body of research is revealing that both physiological and psychological systems that help clients and patients regulate stress reactions are shaped and influenced by their relationships and attachment experiences. Further, an individual’s attachment style can provide valuable insight into how he/she may respond in times of stress and duress. Therefore, from a faith-based and integrative perspective, this workshop seeks to educate its attendees to better understand the implications and influence attachment can have on one’s stress response, equip clients and patients through building resilience faith-based behaviors during dark and difficult times, as well as encourage them to develop healthy coping strategies for the road ahead.
