Description

Women?۪s traumas and challenges caused by misuses and abuses of power have been coming to
the forefront of our awareness via news stories covering the ???Me Too?۝ movement, the equal
pay movement, and sex trafficking and domestic violence awareness movements. When Jesus
physically walked the earth, He compassionately and generously chose to see and address the
hurt of women?۪s hearts. He decidedly healed and empowered women into their callings, in a
manner that was counter culture. He publicly set an example to those around Him regarding
how to break out of societal norms that were hurting women. For instance, we observe this in
His interactions with the Samaritan woman, the woman caught in adultery, and His interactions
with Mary and Martha. As pastors, ministers, counselors, and Jesus-followers, how do we
address the current wounds and needs of women who have experienced misuses and abuses of
power in our offices, congregations, pulpits, classrooms, and social circles in a relevant,

therapeutic, Scripture-honoring, and Christ-like manner? This panel of God-honoring and
discerning women will share authentically from their personal and clinical experiences
regarding the impact of misuses of power in regard to women. They will communicate insights
into how we, as the Church, can ???Rise Up,?۝ not in shame, guilt or fear but in real power and
with true wisdom, to set the captives free and be a forerunner and primary influencer in
healthy, Christ-honoring cultural change. However, first we need to define the problem and
then create vision and objectives for transformation. We will do so in this timely panel
discussion through a solutions-oriented lens.
