Summary:

Recent research has shown the importance of whole person care in the medical and mental health fields. Medical and Mental Health professionals are encouraged and sometimes even required to assess and create treatment plans for multiple areas of the patient’s lives. The SAMHSA Wellness Wheel is a helpful assessment and treatment planning tool that can help a medical and mental health professional to examine eight different areas, such as physical, emotional, financial, occupational, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of the patient’s life in order to provide the most comprehensive care. In this workshop, participants will be able to assess a client and determine areas of growth based on answers to various questions in each section. Furthermore, participants will be able to apply various whole person techniques that can be used with different patients. Also, follow up questions and homework will be discussed to help the patient stay on track with their treatment goals.
